“I work really hard. But the results don’t come. Why?”

Many players feel this way. Jessica Pegula went through exactly this in 2024. She was giving everything in training, but still felt like something wasn’t working.

Then she figured out what the problem was.

She was thinking too much about winning.

So she changed one thing. Instead of focusing on the result, she started focusing on improving one thing at a time. One thing that would help her get the result.

And the results followed.

Trying too hard to win is like trying too hard to fall asleep. It never works. 🙂

But when you relax and just focus on the right things, it happens on its own.

So here’s what you can try.

First, think about what you want to achieve. Win a tournament. Reach a new ranking. Qualify for a bigger tournament.

Write it down.

Then ask yourself: what do I need to work on to get there? Serve more consistently? Move better? Stay calm when it gets tight?

Write down your action plan.

That’s your focus. Not the outcome. Work on that every day.
Because the results don’t just happen. They come when you focus on what gets you there.
